Course description:
Effective tracheostomy education from the healthcare team is essential for safe discharge home. This session highlights core teaching elements for patients and caregivers, addresses common safety concerns, and emphasizes patient-centric instruction. Evidence-based education strategies and team-based approaches will be discussed to support successful transitions of care.
Course objectives:
- Name three items that should be in a tracheostomy emergency bag.
- Describe key tracheostomy education topics patients and caregivers must understand before discharge.
- Implement one strategy to provide more patient-centric safety education in daily practice.
