Josie Sevier Alston MA, CCC-SLP

Clinical Education Manager - Laryngectomy & Tracheostomy

Josie earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Memphis and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia. In her previous role, she led the Division of Speech-Language Pathology within the Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she led a team of 30 speech-language pathologists. Josie also served as the clinical director of the UMMC Voice and Swallowing Center, focusing on the evaluation and treatment of voice, resonance, airway, dysphagia, and head and neck cancer disorders. Josie’s love of voice and head and neck cancer began at the Vanderbilt Voice Center where she worked for many years and, in 2005, she transitioned to work for Atos Medical as the first SLP clinical sales representative. Currently, Josie is the 2024 President of the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) and she also contributes her expertise as a board member for the Mississippi Council on Developmental Disabilities and as 2025 Chair of the MS Department of Health Advisory Board. Josie engages actively with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as a volunteer, convention speaker, and guest author. In addition, Josie is a graduate of the ASHA Leadership Development Program and is a member of ASHA SIG 3 and SIG 11.

Josie started her tenure at Atos Medical in 2024 and is currently the Clinical Education Manager.

Barbara Pisano Messing PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, FASHA

Clinical Specialist - Laryngectomy

Barbara is a Clinical Educator with Atos Medical. Before joining Atos in 2022, she obtained extensive clinical, research, and leadership experience as Administrative-Clinical Director in an acute medical hospital setting and head and neck oncology and voice disorders clinic in an outpatient setting. She attained her doctorate from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, under the guidance of her esteemed advisors, Dr. Elizabeth Ward and Dr. Cathy Lazarus. She has lectured nationally and internationally on dysphagia and published in peer-reviewed journals on managing patients with head and neck cancer and voice disorders. Her clinical and research interests include head and neck cancer rehabilitation, dysphagia, and voice disorders.

Barbara has been employed with Atos Medical since 2022.

Meaghan Kane-Benjamin MS, CCC-SLP

Senior Clinical Educator - Laryngectomy

Meaghan received her BA in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Montclair State University, NJ and MA in Speech and Hearing Science in 1995 from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She began her career practicing under the mentorship of Mark Singer, MD, and Carla Gress, PhD. After eight years at University of California, San Francisco as Clinical Manager specializing in head and neck cancer rehabilitation, Meaghan relocated to continue her practice with the Otolaryngology Department at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston, IL. Having extensive clinical experience with TE voice restoration, she has directed and been invited faculty at numerous national seminars and training programs for laryngectomy rehabilitation.

Meaghan has been employed by Atos Medical since 2006 and is currently a Senior Clinical Educator.

Samantha Jones MA, CCC-SLP

Senior Clinical Educator - Laryngectomy

Samantha began her career as a clinical specialist in voice and head/neck cancer at Carolinas Healthcare System main campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has over 25 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) with the last fifteen focused on treatment of the head and neck oncology and laryngectomee populations. Samantha worked as a program lead within Levine Cancer Institute Head and Neck Cancer and Survivorship Departments and assisted in program development and clinical education throughout the healthcare system. During her tenure there, she hosted city-wide laryngectomee seminars and founded the only voice club in Charlotte, the Greater Charlotte Chatterboxes.

Samantha joined Atos Medical in 2017 and is currently a Clinical Educator.

Alyssa Freeman MS, CCC-SLP

Senior Clinical Educator - Laryngectomy

Alyssa received her MA in speech-language pathology from the University of Florida in 2016. She first joined the clinical faculty at UF Health, where she gained extensive experience managing voice prostheses and ran the Laryngectomee Support Club. Alyssa then moved to Boston to work at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a part of the acute care and head and neck oncology teams. While at Beth Israel, she worked in the ICUs, focusing on dysphagia, tracheostomy and alternative and augmentative communication. With her prior experience in voice prosthesis (VP) management, she helped establish a robust VP management program and was able to allow more patients the option of tracheoesophageal voice restoration.

Alyssa joined Atos Medical in 2022.

Casey Richardson MA, CCC-SLP

Senior Clinical Educator - Laryngectomy

Casey Richardson began her career as a speech-language pathologist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2016 where she completed her fellowship training and continued as a senior speech language pathologist and Education Coordinator for the Section of Speech Pathology and Audiology since 2019. She has facilitated the audiology and speech-language pathology graduate student and fellowship programs in addition to collaboratively developing MD Anderson education offerings both internally and externally under Dr. Katherine Hutcheson. She specializes in the treatment of patients with head and neck cancer with expertise in dysphagia evaluation/intervention and alaryngeal voice and pulmonary rehabilitation following total laryngectomy. She has had the opportunity to participate in clinical research with a focus on dysphagia and post-laryngectomy rehabilitation. Additionally, she has presented at local and national conferences and is a strong advocate for the laryngectomy community.

Casey joined Atos in May 2023 as a Clinical Educator.

Tricia Harris MS, CCC-SLP

Tricia received her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University in 2006, with specialized training in swallowing and voice disorders. She began her career in the acute care hospital setting and spent the last several years as the senior speech-language pathologist at the West Cancer Center in Memphis, TN. Tricia's primary expertise lies in the management of voice and swallowing disorders in patients with head and neck cancer. She is passionate about advocacy and raising awareness for those affected by cancer. In 2015, she established the Midsouth Laryngectomee Club which supports laryngectomy survivors from four surrounding states.

Tricia joined Atos in 2025 as a Clinical Educator.

Katrina Lynn-Milo MS, CCC-SLP, CLT-LANA

Katrina received her MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University in 2008. She began her career at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where she developed a keen interest in tracheoesophageal voice restoration, dysphagia and voice disorders. Prior to joining Atos, she worked at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx as a Senior II SLP, covering both acute care and outpatient settings, as well as serving as a member of the multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team. Katrina has dedicated 14 years of her career to the head and neck cancer and total laryngectomee populations. In 2021, she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) in order to provide the most comprehensive care to patients experiencing post-treatment lymphedema of the head and neck. In 2023, she became the third SLP to be certified by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA).

Katrina joined Atos in 2025 as a Clinical Educator.

Carmin Bartow MS, CCC-SLP

Senior Clinical Educator - Tracheostomy

Carmin began her career as a speech-language pathologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where she specialized in dysphagia management, head and neck cancer, and tracheostomy practice for over two decades. Her contributions were pivotal in the development and success of a multidisciplinary tracheostomy team. From 2012-2022, she maintained Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. Carmin is an experienced educator at the local, regional, and national levels, including several years as an adjunct instructor for the Dysphagia course at Tennessee State University and as an invited guest lecturer for many SLP and RT programs throughout the US. She has authored and co-authored multiple peer reviewed papers and presentations on dysphagia, tracheostomy practice, and multidisciplinary tracheostomy teams. Her career included a balance between her clinical role and part-time work as a Clinical Consultant for Passy-Muir leading to a full-time Clinical Specialist position there in 2020.

Megan Quinn MSN, CPNP-PC

Clinical Educator - Tracheostomy

Megan received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and her Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University. Her began her career at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago as a pediatric intensive care unit nurse and later as a pediatric palliative care nurse practitioner. Megan has cared for infants, children, and young adults with complex medical needs including tracheostomies throughout her entire career. She is currently certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner - primary care. In her role as a nurse practitioner, she was able to explore research and quality improvement opportunities, co-authoring papers and presenting her work across the country. Topics of interest included exploration of familial and provider complex medical decision making as well as health policy and advocacy. She is involved in multiple professional organizations and currently serves as the membership co-chair on the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

Megan joined Atos Medical in 2024 as a Clinical Navigator in the Case Management Department and transitioned to a Tracheostomy Clinical Educator in 2025.
