Freevent XtraCare Mini

Freevent XtraCare Mini is a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) with a highly effective electrostatic filter. It contains a hygroscopic foam core which traps moisture and warmth from the patient’s exhaled breath and then releases this heat and moisture during inhalation. Additionally, the filter provides protection against airborne particles, including viruses and bacteria, with a filtration efficiency of more than 98%.1,2* It is intended for spontaneously breathing pediatric patients with a tracheostomy tube.

Having a tracheostomy means that the natural humidification and filtration functions of the upper airway are lost. Combining an HME with an electrostatic filter provides children with humidification and filtration of inhaled air and those around them with filtration of exhaled air.

Freevent XtraCare Mini has a compact design, tailored for pediatric patients. The transparent connector facilitates monitoring of secretions and is compatible with tracheostomy tubes with an ISO 15mm connector and can be combined with Freevent 02 Adapter Mini to administer supplemental oxygen. XtraCare Mini is recommended for children with a tidal volume between 30-250 ml, approx. 7-30 kg.

        Freevent XtraCare Mini provides:

        • Good humidification
        • Effective filtration of bacteria >99%1*
        • Effective filtration of viruses >98%2*

        * Please note: Since pathogens can enter and leave the human body in other ways (such as the mouth, nose, and eyes), Freevent XtraCare Mini can never guarantee complete protection.

HMEs should be changed at least every 24 hours, or if they are soiled, dropped or clogged.
